Restoration Invocation, Op. 180 (2025)

Program Notes:

I first met Tim Coffey in summer 2014 as a sixth grader playing in my summer clarinet choir. I continued working with him the next few summers and was impressed at his growth from year to year. We played a duet on a recital in summer 2018 which was one of the most enjoyable duet experiences of my life! Since then, he went to Ithaca for his Bachelor's in clarinet performance and is currently pursuing a Master's in clarinet performance at the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music. This year, we started thinking about possibly performing together again sometime. Although the performance details have not progressed past wishful thinking, I knew I wanted to write something for us to play together. There is a lamentable lack of large-scale professional-level clarinet duets, and hopefully this will help to fill the void!
